Sue McLeod - My Cloud Creations
I am a ceramic artist/candle maker and I work out of my home studio in Victoria, BC. I graduated with honours and a diploma from the Clay Program at Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC in 2010 where I also served as the clay studio technician for my entire 2nd year. I have participated in various juried craft markets, including Circle Craft Christmas Market- Vancouver, BC - 2013; Filberg Festival - Comox, BC - 2013; Out of Hand Artisan Christmas Fair - Victoria, BC - 2011, 2012, 2013; One of a Kind Spring Show and Sale - Toronto, Ontario - 2010.
I make whimsically elegant, functional ceramics using a white stoneware clay and find a great deal of joy in creating teapots that are full of character and personality. One of my teapots was recently published in Lark Crafts "500 Teapots - Volume 2," juried by Jim Lawton. Having started my artisan career as a soy candle maker in 2004, I have now combined my candle making skills with my ceramic art, producing a line of unique porcelain vessels to contain the wax of the candle. The porcelain pieces are then glazed with a cracked textured "lichen" glaze and the natural translucency of the porcelain allows the light of the burning candle to pass through, creating glowing patterns of light and shadows.
I make all of my own glazes from scratch and electric fire all of my pieces to cone 6.
My work is currently for sale at Little Cricket Gift Gallery in Maple Ridge, BC; The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach, BC; Side Street Studio, Victoria, BC; Art House at Lake Country Art Gallery, Lake Country, BC; I also sell my mugs at the Gallery of BC Ceramics on Granville Island, Vancouver BC.

Jewelry by Sacha Sauve
My hearts passion has always been around creating meaning in this world and having a strong sense of connection to the people in my life and the environment that surrounds me. I love working with my hands, from my heart. When I was a teenager I was introduced to a community of people who believed in the metaphysical properties of gem stones and who equally honored the earth from which they came. At this time I began to develop an interest in making jewelry with the intention of creating pieces that inspired, supported, and guided people as they moved through their lives.
After many years of trying out various trades and interests I have landed back in the seat of being inspired to create art from earthly elements. It’s special to make something that helps people to feel empowered, and like they have a special talisman to take with them as they navigate their lives.
Through the use of semiprecious stones, metals and upcycled materials, I create jewelry pieces that are intended to help people feel like they have an extra little bit of magic, meaning and beauty in their corner as they traverse this beautiful and sometimes crazy human experience.
But the dream doesn’t stop there! I am an aspiring Silversmith, Entrepreneur, and Human Advocate, who is working towards building an ethical, community and family oriented social enterprise that will support humans to live a more meaningful, connected life. The dream is young and in its infancy, and these are the first steps to making it happen!
I look forward to lots of sharing and meeting with you all as this Dream unfolds!

Goals: The AFA is calling on the BC Liberal government to:
- Undertake a Provincial Old-Growth Strategy that will inventory the old-growth forests in BC and protect them where they are scarce (ie. Vancouver Island, southern Mainland coast, southern Interior, etc.)
- Ensure the sustainable logging of second-growth forests, which now constitute the majority of forest lands in southern BC.
- End the export of BC raw logs to foreign mills in order to ensure a guaranteed log supply for BC mills and value-added processing facilities.
- Assist in the retooling and development of BC coastal sawmills and value-added facilities to handle second-growth logs.
- Undertake new, democratic land-use planning processes to protect endangered forests based on new First Nations land-use plans, ecosystem-based scientific assessments, and climate mitigation strategies through forest protection.
